PURPOSE OF ORGANIZATION
The purposes of the Corporation are exclusively charitable and educational as defined under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The specific purpose of the organization is to develop productive and healthy individuals and build strong and secure families and neighborhoods by providing opportunities and resources that foster family life skills, educational attainment, employment and economic sustainability.
VISION STATEMENT
The Newtowne Community Development Corporation is a neighborhood driven organization, consisting of representatives from all of the communities on Newtowne Drive and other resourceful individuals, which continuously works to provide protective factors and remove individual, family, school and community risk factors that keep residents of this area from living an economically successful and healthy life.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Newtowne Community Development Corporation connects residents of the Newtowne Drive area of the City of Annapolis with educational, economical and social opportunities that help them to choose healthy and successful life styles resulting in the achievement of self-sufficiency and economic sustainability.
HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
The Newtowne Community Development Corporation (NCDC) was incorporated in the State of Maryland on April 28, 2009. It received its notification of being designated as a tax-exempt 501 (c) (3) organization by letter dated March 4, 2010, retroactive to April 28, 2009. This means that all contributions/donations made to the organization are tax-exempt and the organization is eligible to receive grants from government and private entities. The organization has by-laws, an employer identification number, and a Board of Directors, which it is hoping to increase with residents of all of the communities on Newtowne Drive. The goal is to have a Board with at least 51% residents of the neighborhood (which includes four separate communities). NCDC is registered with the Charitable Division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
